"In December 2003, Castlereagh Borough Council entered into contract with Secunia for the provision of Alerts and Advisories, to help us secure our network against vulnerabilities in the Operating Systems and Application software that our company uses. The success of this venture for us can be seen by the fact that at the end of this period we have now entered into an extension agreement and have expanded the service to cover virus alerts as well.
The Secunia product is an excellent Web based product that you tailor to cover the software that your company uses. All software is covered from firewalls to Operating Systems to application software. At Castlereagh we use a wide range of Microsoft products Windows NT Server, Server 2000 and Server 2003. At the client end we use everything from Windows NT forward, all these Operating Systems are covered by Secunia. Likewise all application software is also covered.
Secunia’s product has helped us to secure our network and we are confident that because of this product we are as secure as is possible in today’s IT environment. We have the product configured to send email advisories and also text messages to our mobile phones. This has
proved to be invaluable. We regularly receive advisories on vulnerabilities and with these there is always the advice on what the vulnerability is and what action should be taken. If a patch is needed there is always a link to the relevant patch on the Internet.
The virus alerts that we receive enable us to ensure that our anti-virus software is up to date and configured properly. The product really takes a lot of the worry out of my job.
